MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Paramedic As a Paramedic
at MercyOne , you will p rovide professional care for acutely ill
and injured patients incorporating the education and skills learned
as a certified paramedic for all age groups in ground ambulance
pre-hospital and hospital environment . Is guided by MercyOne
Ambulance protocols or direct medical control . ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
- Assess patients with a variety of medical conditions or
injuries.
- Prepare patient care reports within 24 hours of completing the
ambulance trip.
- Triage, prioritize, and anticipate patients' needs; develop a
plan of care.
- Provide ongoing evaluation and adjust the plan of care as
needed. Document findings and interventions.
- Implement interventions according to protocols and document
patient responses to treatment.
- Prepare equipment and supplies, checking medical equipment
daily and restocking and cleaning the rig after each
transport.
- Operate required vehicles safely to perform job duties.
- Provide stand-by EMS services at events.
- Assist with station duties as needed.MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Mentor students affiliated with the School of EMS.
- Provide patient care in the Emergency Department or critical
care units when not performing ambulance services duties.
- Assist with difficult peripheral line insertions for hospital
in-patients.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Iowa
required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three
(3) months of hire (American Heart Association).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or
obtain within three (3) months of hire (American Heart
Association).
- Proof of completion of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse
Mandatory Reporter training within three (3) months of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
within three (3) months of hire.
- Valid driver's license required. Must meet Mercy's Motor
Vehicle Safety Standards, be at least 18 years old, and eligible to
drive per Iowa state law.
- Emergency Vehicle Operations training required within six (6)
